Designed for convenience, the CBF 4000 features a user-friendly back-flush system, a cleaning indicator, and can be discreetly buried to its lid. It comes complete with media (sponges and UV lamp), ready for installation. Please Note: While the system is designed for multi-stage filtration including biological media, bio balls are not included with the smaller CBF-4000 model; they are typically supplied with the 12000L and 15000L filters in this series.

How to Use This Pond Filter

Proper installation and operation are key to maximizing the effectiveness of your Jebao CBF filter. Ensure your pump’s flow rate does not exceed the filter’s maximum recommended flow (generally half the pond volume per hour for lightly stocked ponds).

1. Initial Setup: Connect your pond pump to the filter’s inlet. Cut the inlet/outlet hosetails to the appropriate size (20/25/32/40mm) for a secure fit. Ensure all media (sponges and UV lamp) are correctly installed. The filter comes with a 5-meter outdoor cable (no plug fitted) for flexible placement. This unit can be buried up to its lid for discreet concealment in your garden.
2. Operation: Once connected and powered, water from your pond will enter the filter. It first undergoes mechanical filtration through the foam filters, removing larger debris. Next, it passes through the biological filtration stage (if bio balls are added or for larger models), where beneficial bacteria process harmful waste. Finally, the water passes by the UV clarifier, which kills suspended algae before returning clear water to your pond under pressure, capable of flowing uphill to features like waterfalls.
3. Back-Flush Cleaning: When the cleaning indicator turns red, it’s time for maintenance.
   1. Shut off the pond pump.
   2. Turn the switch on the filter head to the “Cleaning” position.
   3. Turn the pump back on.
   4. Pull and push the cleaning handle repeatedly.
   5. Continue this action until clean water exits via the waste outlet.
   6. Once clean water appears, switch the filter back to the “Filter” position and shut off the pump again.
   7. You can then restart your pump for normal filtration.

Care & Maintenance Tips

• Regularly monitor the cleaning indicator to perform timely back-flushes, maintaining optimal filter performance.
• Always shut off the pump before performing any maintenance or handling the filter.
• Ensure all hose connections are secure to prevent leaks and maintain proper pressure.
• For convenience and to nourish your garden, use the dirty water from the back-flush facility on your garden plants.
• Periodically check the UV lamp and quartz glass for cleanliness and replace the UV lamp annually to ensure effective algae elimination.
• Ensure the filter is installed in a location that allows for easy access during cleaning cycles.
• For winterization or prolonged periods of non-use, disconnect and thoroughly clean the filter, storing it in a frost-free environment.
