How to Use This Hang-On Filter

Assemble or rinse the filter cartridge and sponge as per instructions, then insert into the V-shaped slots in the filter chamber.
Attach the intake tube (without strainer) into the intake chamber, ensuring proper seating within the guide ribs.
Hang the filter unit on the tank’s rim, install the strainer and extensions to achieve ideal water intake depth (1″ above gravel for regular, 3″ for cichlids, 6″ for goldfish).
Fill the intake chamber with water until overflow into the filter chamber occurs, then secure the lid and adjust flow to maximum.
Top off tank water to within 0.5–1″ of the filter’s spillway, plug in the unit—operation should begin within 30 seconds. If not, adjust intake tube position slightly.
Periodically inspect and replace filter media as needed to maintain optimal water quality.

Care & Maintenance Tips

Rinse sponge media in aquarium water during water changes to preserve beneficial bacteria.
Replace carbon or chemical media as per usage intensity—typically every 4–6 weeks.
Clean impeller and intake tube monthly to prevent clogging and noise.
Keep intake clearance appropriate (above gravel) to avoid substrate ingestion.
Ensure power switch is off before removing filter for maintenance to avoid splash and potential damage.
