Note: The CBF-8000 filter includes two different grades of sponge media. Bio balls are generally not included with filters smaller than CBF-12000. Cable length for this model is 5 meters (no plug fitted).

1. Initial Setup: Connect the inlet and outlet hosetails. Ensure the hosetails are cut to the appropriate size (20/25/32/40mm compatible) for your pond pump and water return system. The filter can be partially buried to the lid for a concealed installation.
2. Mechanical Filtration (Stage 1): Water first passes through two different grades of sponge media, which physically traps larger debris and particles, ensuring initial clarity.
3. Biological Filtration (Stage 2): Following mechanical filtration, water passes through the filter’s biological section where beneficial bacteria convert harmful ammonia and nitrites. While bio balls are typically included with larger models (CBF-12000 and CBF-15000), the CBF 8000’s design and media promote essential biological activity to maintain water quality.

• Back-Flush Procedure: First, shut off your pond pump. Turn the filter switch to “Cleaning”. Turn the pump back on. Pull and push the cleaning handle repeatedly until clean water appears from the waste outlet. Then, switch the knob back to “Filter” and turn off the pump.
• Beneficial Waste Water: The dirty water flushed during the back-flush process is rich in nutrients and can be safely used to water your garden plants.
• Pond Capacity Considerations: Remember that the quoted pond capacities (e.g., 9000L shaded) are for lightly stocked ponds. Full sun exposure or heavy fish stocking will reduce the effective capacity of the filter.
• Optimal Flow Rate: For best results, the maximum flow rate for your pump should generally be about half the total pond volume per hour. The CBF 8000 is suitable for a maximum flow of 4000 LPH.
