How to Use This Internal Aquarium Filter

1. Carefully unpack the EHEIM pickup 200 filter and ensure all components are present, including the filter cartridge.
2. Attach the suction cups firmly to the back of the pump unit.
3. Submerge the entire filter unit into your aquarium, ensuring it is fully underwater and securely attached to the tank wall using the suction cups.
4. Position the filter unit in an area that allows for good water circulation, typically near the bottom or middle of the tank.
5. Adjust the rotatable outlet nozzle to direct the water flow as desired, avoiding direct flow onto substrate or delicate plants.
6. Plug the filter into a suitable power outlet. The pump will immediately begin to draw water and start filtering your aquarium.
7. For maintenance, simply grasp the top of the filter canister and pull it upwards to detach it from the pump unit, leaving the pump in the tank.

Care & Maintenance Tips

• Regularly check the filter cartridge for clogging or excessive debris accumulation.
• Clean or replace the filter cartridge every 2-4 weeks, or as needed, depending on your aquarium’s bioload and water conditions.
• To clean the filter cartridge, gently rinse it in old aquarium water (from a water change) to preserve beneficial bacteria. Do not use tap water directly, as chlorine can harm these bacteria.
• If using activated carbon cartridges, replace them every 2-4 weeks as their absorption capacity depletes over time. Avoid prolonged use of expired carbon.
• Periodically inspect the impeller and impeller well for any debris or buildup, which can reduce pump efficiency. Clean gently with a soft brush if necessary.
• Ensure the suction cups maintain a strong grip; replace them if they lose their suction power to prevent the filter from detaching.
